ABOUT THE EVENT

High school girls are invited to join STEM for Her and IMS (International Microwave Symposium) for an exciting day of exploration and education on June 20, 2024!  

The IMS is the largest event dedicated to the radio frequency and microwave industry in the world!  It is put on by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

LOCATION: Washington Convention Center, 801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW, Washington, DC 20001

TRANSPORTATION: Transportation is not provided.  Metro cards will be distributed at the end of the event.

The Convention Center is at the Mt. Vernon Square/7th Street-Convention Center station served by Metro’s Green and Yellow lines.

  • Visit the exposition – View the latest advancements in RF and microwave technology at the IMS2024 exhibition, featuring over 500 global exhibitors showcasing their groundbreaking products and services.
  • Build a Foxhole Radio with Professor David Ricketts, NC State University – Did you know you can do it without special parts, just a coil of wire, a pencil, a piece of metal and a paper towel tube? Join this hands-on experience where you will learn to build the ingenious radio receiver built  in the 1940s

  • Demo of the IEEE MOVE Truck – The IEEE-USA MOVE truck assists victims of natural disasters with short-term communications, technology, and power solutions. stations, and lighting resources.
